Otherwise, the new lens far exceeds the old lens' optical capabilities at the wider apertures. The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is the real contender in my mind.

The RF 70-200 f/2.8L is a drastically different lens to the EF 70-200 f/2.8L. It's more like the RF 24-240 in design. I don't like about the large girth and long focus throw of the RF 70-200. With the focus ring at the front of the lens, it's difficult to keep the camera and lens steady when you zoom in and out.

The Canon EF 17-40 mm f/4L USM was introduced in May 2003 as an ultra wide-angle lens designed for digital and analog cameras with a 35 mm frame detector.
