I just did my forks this weekend, first time for me ever. It was quite easy to do, and I replaced my bushings and seals while I was at it. There was some sludgy oil in there, I would recommend taking them off and dumping it. 1987 Honda Shadow VT1100. I use the Bosch 3323 oil filter on my Aero 750. Tested, has superior filtering. It will most likely fit yours (edit, maybe not, I thought it was the Spirit VT750C2, but they didn't make those until 2007. My bad!). $6.99 at AutoZone. It's a little longer, so I was able to use a full 3 quarts of oil with this filter.

Over the years there have only been two different air filters used in the VT750, below I will identify each as Older and Newer. Stock Air Filter – Older VT750 (DC Spirt / ACE): 17213-MBA-010. Stock Air Filter – Newer VT750 (Aero, C2 Spirit, Phantom, RS): 17213-MEG-000. Uni POD Air Filter for Older dual carb VT750: Uni PK-82.
